Environmental measures and sustainability practices
Transport and logistics
The raw materials are transported by barge from the supplier’s site to the nearest port (5 km from our company). Only the last few kilometres are covered by truck.
To limit transport, we prefer to buy a large number of products from local suppliers. We only use low-sulfur diesel for construction machinery, furnaces, and building heating. The lifting and transport equipment is always maintained preventively and is equipped with particulate filters. The personnel are trained in the defensive operation of these vehicles.
Having our own bulk transport allows us to load with renewable energy during off-peak hours.
Optimization of industrial processes
Storage of raw materials under a material shelter with natural ventilation to promote drying in a natural way.
Optimization of the drying process:
- Automatic control based on feed, moisture content and product residence time. It is optimized for each type of product.
- Heat recovery via heat exchangers to heat buildings.
- Preventive maintenance.
- Use of low-sulphur fuel oil.
The crushers are equipped with high-efficiency motors. Wear parts are checked regularly and replaced if necessary.
Green Workplace Practices
Energy-saving measures are applied in the social and administrative fields:
- Turn off the lights when a room is out.
- Low-traffic areas are equipped with motion detectors.
- All lighting has been replaced with LED lighting.
- Offices and social rooms are equipped with timed thermostats.
- Work paperless as much as possible.
- Responsible use of digital tools.
- Don’t send emails that are too heavy.
- Use of Open Source software.
- Use of artificial intelligence only when needed.
- Waste sorting is mandatory.
Recycling and waste management
The self-use packaging is reused as much as possible.
Industrial waste (old pallets, torn big bags, plastic, metals, etc…) is collected separately in different containers and sent to recycling centres.
Site development and environment
Part of the site is concreted and planned for rainwater harvesting, on another part there is still natural vegetation promoting biodiversity
Internal monitoring and improvement
Regular internal audits are organised to assess compliance with the rules on reducing CO2 emissions and, if necessary, to make improvements.
Energy and Consumption
Our solar panel installation contributes to the production of green electricity.
We have entered into a green electricity supply contract with our energy provider.
Fleet renewal will systematically transition to electric vehicles.
The site is equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles.
